Aurora Hunter by Todd Salat - Your source for the northern lights

Happy Peak Phase,

The peak of the Solar Cycle is upon us. This year's aurora displays have made the record books due to the explosive nature of the Sun, the generative power behind the northern & southern lights, and I am truly happy to know many people around the world witnessed the power of the “Lights!” Currently, it’s too bright to see them in much of Alaska ~ Land of the Midnight Sun ~ but for those who have darkness in your summer sky and are on the hunt for more aurora experiences we have the following weblinks to help assist: Northern Lights Forecast ~ Links & Webcams ~ Northern Lights Tonight.

New Releases ~ I have two-in-one for this summer in the name of “Skybow.” I’ve had fun preparing this panoramic image in both Skybow (color) and Skybow (black & white). We’ve added a pentych option to our newbie Denali Spectacle, an amazingly sharp, red aurora display over the Alaska Range. And Star Globe is a star on the rise…. many stars actually.

It’s Showtime! Shay & I will have our Gallerwheelia booth set up at the Anchorage Market in downtown every weekend this summer from May 25 until September 1st. If you are traveling around the great state of Alaska, please check out our awesome gallery outlets. You’re also cordially invited to follow us on Facebook/AuroraHunter

Auroras dance over my head in Anchorage, Alaska on September 2, 2023 at 12:37 am. I saw these despite the city lights on a bright moonlit night. If it’s clear & dark nothing can stop a big aurora show, especially when they’re right on top of you.

Solar Cycle

Here's a graph illustrating when in the solar cycle I've taken some of my favorite shots. The key thing to remember is that auroras occur throughout the cycle from Solar Max to Solar Min. They're just not quite as common during the lows in the cycle. More on the Solar Cycle

Precious Metals

We are absolutely smitten with Metal Prints. The results of having my aurora & scenic shots printed on aluminum have been WOW-With Out Words! The inks are dye-infused onto a specially-coated aluminum sheet and sealed with a gemlike UV coating that is both water and scratch resistant. We have commonly heard people say, "It's like looking through a window"...."Are these backlit?"...."They look so 3D." And the archival quality is out of this world (think century plus). This is a technological breakthrough and the results are in HIGH DEF!
